A portrait of Alex Burnett

Art has always been central to my life. As a child I enjoyed drawing imaginary worlds full of fantasy homes and interesting creatures inspired by Brambly Hedge books and the stories of Tolkien

This passion led me to study illustration at Edinburgh College of Art.  After which, I embarked on a career as an in-house greetings card designer,

then a freelance artist & illustrator with Advocate Art Agency.

Hi, I'm Alex, an artist and illustrator based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Having children opened my eyes to how important creativity is in education, so I decided to gain my PGDE at Aberdeen University and then spent over a decade in the classroom, teaching art and other core subjects at primary level.

Throughout my career I've learnt how important the arts are to everyone, from the young child finding joy playing with clay to an adult escaping everyday stresses by sketching outside.

I'm now lucky enough to be able to combine several passions: for education, art and nature by sharing my skills through teaching workshops and tutoring, as well as selling my original artwork through galleries and online.

You can now book a spot on my first festive art workshop.

A series of art and wellbeing workshops will start in January at Kemnay House.  Please get in touch if you'd like to find out more.

I'm also available throughout the week for one-to-one tuition in person or online, supporting your creative development to gain a qualification or to help you progress your skills for pleasure and peace of mind.
